Correct name Ernest DAVIES and a brother of Alfred Owen Davies, 2nd Expeditionary Force, Army Medical Corps; both listed from Station Street. Both Archives consistently show DAVIES and DAVIS respectively, Alfred noted as dying 3 March, 1942 when at 54 Wright Street, Middle Park, Death Notice as DAVIES which appears the correct version. Both born Ballarat Alfred, 1874, Ernest Edward, 1870; parents William Rees and Elizabeth DAVIES, nee OWEN. It is not clear Ernest deliberately enlisted under DAVIS or whether it was simply a clerical error never corrected
