Reproduction on a postcard of City of Port Melbourne WWI certificate presented to J J Morgan. PMHPS Collection

The reverse side of this postcard offers a glimpse into extended family life during war time. Mabel has sent her nephew, Richie, a copy of his Uncle Jack’s (J J Morgan) certificate asking Richie to find out if his mother would also like a copy. Mabel says she has also sent one to Jack Morgan as he had already left for the Front when the certificates were presented.

Mabel completes the postcard with the following plea;

I would be so pleased if you could write me a little letter do you think you could

and signs it from “Your Loving Aunty Mabel” with twenty-five ‘kisses’ filling the remaining space.
