Private, 60 Infantry, killed in action 19 July, 1916, aged 24, commemorated VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, France.

Parents: Harry and Mrs Mary Anne RONEY, born Port Melbourne. Enlisted 26 Danks Street, Albert Park; reported Missing, 19 July, 1916, confirmed killed in action at that date in August, 1917 – there were no eyewitnesses reports of his death, no trace of him in Germany, he was one of those simply never seen again after the night attack at Fromelles. He was the only son, two sisters, the circular showed Albert Park as the late serviceman’s closest place of association. Also South Melbourne Roll.
