Severs enlisted as a 23-year-old labourer, showing a friend Mrs WOLFENDEN in Northcote as next of kin; trained at Seymour Camp and died of spino-cerebral meningitis, Alfred Hospital after ten weeks confinement, 14 August, 1915, interred Coburg General Cemetery. Brother, 2024, Alfred Duncan SEVERS, also born Port Melbourne, enlisted from Talbot in country Victoria.

There is no trace of the births of either Albert or Alfred Severs in Victorian records; the best guess is that with both patents listed as deceased, the brothers may have been adopted or fostered out to a Severs family. Alfred died in Warrnambool in 1957 at 62 years; both parents listed as “unknown”.
