Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

The Executive Committee of the Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society has decided that it is in everyone’s best interests to cancel our March General Meeting which was to be held on Tuesday 24 March.

In a letter to members dated 14 March, President Sue Leong stated that ‘although we don’t have 500 people at a meeting, we are aware that the 40 or so people who regularly attend our meetings are, like myself, regarded as being in the senior citizens category which is regarded as the most vulnerable age group for contracting the virus’.

Hopefully future meetings will not need to be cancelled but we will provide updates as information comes to hand.

We are hopeful that our March speaker, Libby O’Farrell, will be able to join us on another occasion.

Sue also mentioned that the St Kilda Cemetery tour will go ahead however we have subsequently been notified by Liz Hore from Friends of St Kilda Cemetery that they have decided to postpone all tours until later in the year.

So please note that the St Kilda Cemetery tour to be held on Sunday 22 March also has now been cancelled.

In the meantime stay safe.

Wash your hands often, try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth and if you feel sick or need medical attention phone your doctor or the Coronavirus hotline 1800 675 398.
