Annie died in 1956. Sands and McDougall describes him as a hawker which may explain why he lived in these houses for such a short period.

Alan John, twin of Wayne.
Four of the five children of Charles and Elsie still live in Port Melbourne: Charles, Brian, Graeme and Alan.

Elsie and Charles were living in Ross Street. Elsie bought 79 Evans Street, probably from the Webster family about 1949 but they did not move in until about 1952. Perhaps because there was some problem about getting the Coopers to move out. Their son, Brian thinks that in the end they might have done a house swap with the Coopers. Charles was a waterside worker, a tall lanky bloke. When Glen Stuart was a young boy he was mates with some of the sons. They all went to Nott Street school. They used to enter and leave the house by the little gate in the back fence and down the small lane to Ross Street. They played cricket with a tennis ball in the small yard, if there was any trouble we could make a quick get away down the little lane. (Glen Stuart)
