Biography - Cosham Family

Cosham, Thomas Henry
269 Bridge Street 1926-1949 Property

Grandson of Thomas Henry Cosham and Emma King who was born about 1825 and died in South Melbourne 1889. Thomas was the son of their first child Charles Cosham born 1860 at Emerald Hill. Charles married in 1884, his other children were Albert John Cosham and Eva May Cosham who married William Thomas James Butcher)

Thomas Henry was married to Mabel Spedding Iverson Clarke. Their children were:

Thomas Walter Cosham, born Port Melbourne 1911; married Isobel Lillian Kerr 5th November 1934;

Nancy Isobal Cosham born 1913 at Port Melbourne; married Ian Somerville Lee 19 September 1936; children Barbara May Lee born 1937 in Port Melbourne who married Terrence Edward Keenann 13 April 1957 and their only child recorded is Vicki Joanne Keenan born 1958. Other children of Nancy and Ian were Gary Thomas and Gail Robyn.

Mena Alice Cosham born 14 August 1916; married Henry Francis Roy Bickerton in 1941

Gordon Albert Cosham born 1918

Hazel Jean Cosham born 1920 who married Frederick William Lock (see 130 Farrell St Property)

Thomas Henry was a 'driver' according to Sands.

Glen Stuart remembers: Their house was next to the lane. when he and his brother were helping their father to load the float with bottled milk at Gladesville Dairy (273 Bridge St Property) in the early hours of the morning, they had to be quiet not to wake Mr Cosham although in fact he was a good neighbour to them and never complained.

Mabel Cosham was 75 in 1960 and about that time the house was handed over to Mena Alice Bickerton nee Cosham who was one of the daughters of Thomas and Mabel.
