Biography - Moynihan Family

Moynihan, Cornelius

Cornelius was born in the County of Kerry in Ireland 1844 and married Honoria Hester McSweeney in 1869, (also known as Norah). Cornelius died in Port Melbourne in 1890. The connection of the family with this house is interesting. From the rate records it was owned by the Moynihan family from when it was built in about 1884 to at least 1930. By 1940 they had sold it and the owner was Michael Broderick.

The records only list three children:

Joanna Maria born in Buninyong in 1871, died in Sunbury 1942, married to Walter Miller Boyle born 1892 in Scotland and died 1927, a son Leo Donald was born to them in Port Melbourne on 10th May 1895

Honora Esther born in Sandhurst 1877 and married in 1911 to David Williamson born in Sandridge 1874 (see entries for 174 Farrell Street Property and 180 Farrell Street Property)

May who could be the 'M' and 'Margaret' listed as owner 1910 and 1920.
