Walking tours

The Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society offered two walks as part of the National Trust 2014 Heritage Festival.

This year’s theme, Journeys, was perfectly suited to Port Melbourne.

  1. Destination: Port Melbourne Walking Tour: This tour is centred on Port Melbourne’s piers. It is a circular walk, taking about 1.5 hours, beginning and ending at the Port Melbourne/Beacon Cove terminus of the 109.
  2. Down the Line to Port  This tour centres on stories associated with the Melbourne and Hobsons Bay railway line. The walk begins near Montague station (Stop 126 on the 109 tram service) and ends at Port Melbourne/Beacon Cove.

Port Melbourne is easy walking. Both walks are about 2.5 km and will take about 1.5 hours. There are seats along the way.

If you are part of a group that would like a guided walking tour around Port Melbourne, please contact the Society via the contact form on the website.
