Parents: Richard Shields (late) and Mrs Alice Mary MACDONALD, born Port Melbourne, educated Nott Street SS, family then at 25 Beaconsfield Parade. Macdonald enlisted with his mother at Kinglake West as next of kin, occupation shown as an orchardist/labourer. Siblings Ivy and Keith, died of wounds 18 September 1917, 17th Casualty Clearing Station, Belgium and commemorated on the Whittlesea War Memorial.
