Disclaimer – WWI Centenary Project

Information presented in the Port Melbourne First World War Centenary project has been compiled from a number of publicly available sources as well as contributions and private research by particular individuals.

Enlistment details, in particular, have been compiled from records available from the National Archives of Australia and the Australian War Memorial.  In some cases these sources provide conflicting information. The Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society (PMH&PS) has made every effort to reconcile these differences using the service records held in the National Archives as the main source.

Large sections of the service records are handwritten and can be difficult to interpret.   PMH&PS strongly recommend that rather than rely on interpretations on this website visitors should review the original records and confirm any information for themselves.  Where possible, a link has been provided to the online digital copy of the service records for each individual.
