Herbert’s war record indicates his correct name was William Vorherr and his mother lived at 15 Heath Street, Port Melbourne. Information provided by the Vorherr family indicates he was Peter Augustus Vorherr’s stepbrother. After his death, his widow Josephine was living at 36 Margaret Street, Moonee Ponds.
