    1103 later Second Lieutenant (Parents: Daniel and Mrs Christina HUNTER, brother 1912, Sergeant David HUNTER (born Port Melbourne), killed in action 3 May, 1917. Born Port Melbourne (family then at 367 Bay-street), educated Scotch College, 12 months with Royal Australian Garrison Artillery at Queenscliff. He enlisted as a 20-year-old electrical engineer with his family in Derby Street, Kensington. Hunter embarked as Sergeant and was commissioned in March, 1917 before being killed in action near Armentieres, France, his brother just eleven days later. There was a third brother, Alan Ross HUNTER, born 1899 in South Yarra.
