Norman worked as an electrician for Port Melbourne Council. As N D McPhee, he is listed on the Bridge Street Presbyterian honour board. He is also referred to in the Port Melbourne Standard as N D McPhee.

Although not officially classified as a casualty of the Great War, Norman Donald MacPHEE returned March, 1918 with cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder) and acute appendicitis – he died on 6th February, 1933 in Caulfield (probably 11 Australian General Hospital); his archive suggests the cause was due to war service and his widow was subsequently awarded an In Memoriam badge. There do not appear to have been any children of the marriage.

(late -12th Battery. 4th F.A.B., A.I.F) are informed that his funeral will leave his residence, No. 278 Esplanade East, Port Melbourne, THIS DAY (Wednesday), at 3 o’clock, for the place of Interment in the Melbourne General Cemetery arriving at 3.30”.
