Sergeant, 38 Infantry, died of wounds 13 October 1917, Belgium, aged 34, commemorated Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
Parents: (late), friend: Miss Queenie FARGIE, born Christchurch, New Zealand. He enlisted from 196 Nott Street with a friend, Miss Queenie Fargie, 45 Park Street, Glenferrie as next of kin, later in East Malvern. Murdoch died of gunshot wounds to the hip at the 10th Casualty Clearing Station. The Attestation suggested both parents were deceased, but Murdoch’s archive shows a letter dated from his father, initial “C”; another from a Mrs M Murdoch, a sister-in-law from Hawthorn revealed her husband (George’s brother) was also at the Front. No circular returned.

My brother died (same name and number), 36th Battn. was wounded and died at Ypres on October, 13th, and buried at Lijssenshoek Military Cemetery (Sheet 27.L.22.D.6.3) near Abeele, Plot 21, Row A.
