A strange case – despite Robson’s father being declared “undesirable” and accused of deserting the child when he was three months of age, he placed what appears to be the only Death Notice, suggesting he must have been in some contact with his son and was possibly even living in the same street as Walter’s mother as she was originally shown at 59 Albert Street, Port melbourne before moving to Roy Street (now the southern section of King’s Way …

ROBSON.— In loving memory of Corporal Walter S. Robson, 6th Battalion, who died of wounds at 55th Clearing Station on the 24th August, dearly loved youngest son of Charles Robson, and loved brother of Edgar, aged 21 years. At rest.

There is a link, dear Wally, death cannot sever,
For love and 1 remembrance will live for ever.

Inserted by his sorrowing father and brother, Charles and Edgar Robson, 23 Albert-street, Port Melbourne.
