“The abovenamed soldier was about 45 years of age, fair moustache, thick-set build. I saw 4 of my Co. sitting down beside a broken old house at Suzanne when a large enemy shell burst amongst them, killing Sturman and wounding the other three. Death was instantaneous. He was buried in the Cemetery at Suzanne. I placed a cross over his grave about a fortnight afterwards” (Pte. J.A. Rhodes, 4879, 38th Battn)
