John Daniel Vaughan was discharged as medically unfit on 29 June, 1917 due to functional aphoria (failure of exercise to produce an increase in physical energy or muscle tone). Archives show pensions being granted to his wife, daughter Eavies and himself at 50 Garton Street, Port Melbourne. Vaughan died in the Caulfield Military Hospital on 3 April, 1926 and was interred in Coburg Cemetery
DEATHS VAUGHAN. — On the 3rd April, at Repatriation Hospital, Caulfleld, John Daniel, beloved aon of the late John and Eavies, of Clarendon-street, South Melbourne, lovcd brother of Will and Albert, loved uncle of Bertha, Florence and Billy. Mother, father and son united. Duty nobly done.
