Parents: (both late), Sister: Miss Elsie WILLIAMS, born Moonee Ponds. He was a 22-year-old tinsmith who enlisted with his sister at 368 Ross Street, Port Melbourne. No known grave; two eyewitness reports suggest Williams was killed instantly by a shell explosion while at a gun position and buried, but his remains were never recovered. Declared killed in action in August, 1918.

“We were advancing as Passchendaele and had almost reached our objective when I saw several big shells burst right on the gun team which were serving. They all must have been killed outright and were either blown to pieces or buried by the shells. We had no prisoners taken in that stunt and we advanced a mile past where the shells fell. Fritz cleared out too quickly to bother about prisoners” (Fly, J. A.
