What an evocative view! It was just inside the steel fence at the Customs Building that I caught my very first two fish, the later consequence a forty-two-year career as a fishery biologist. As the pier no longer exists, the painting keeps my memory alive.
Lovely story Albert. Most of the pier is gone but the pylons remain to show the extant of the pier reaching out into the bay. The gatehouse is still there. It has been named the Allan Whittaker Gatehouse and it is used by Albert Park College for classes.
